City As High School

Mentoring Students at City As High-school / Painting murals

City-As-School is a public high school located at 16 Clarkson Street between Hudson Street and Seventh Avenue South in the West Village of Manhattan, New York City which was established in 1972. It is one of the oldest alternative public high schools in the United States. As a teaching artist and mentor at City-As, I have the unique opportunity to engage with students who may not thrive in traditional academic settings. Through creative expression, I witness firsthand the positive impact of arts education on their personal and academic growth. The intimate class sizes allow for individualized attention and foster a sense of community where students feel supported in exploring their artistic abilities. Each day presents new challenges, but the rewarding moments of seeing students gain confidence in their creativity and voice make the experience truly fulfilling.
